PRE PRODUCTION

In filmmaking and video production, pre-production formally commences once every project has been greenlit. At this step, concluding arrangements for production goes into effect.
Funding will usually be sanctioned and several other key elements such as main cast members, director and cinematographer are set.
During pre-production, the script is divided down into individual scenes with storyboards and all the locations, props, cast members, costumes, and special effects.
There will be a read-through of the script which is ordinarily accompanied by all cast members with speaking parts, the director, all administrators of departments, financiers, producers, and distributors. In this stage of filmmaking I will be sharing every prospect that was involved while producing Irandu Disaigal (Two paths).

IDEA

My previous film’s genre consisted of Crime and thriller. For my A levels, I want an entirely different genre to work on, therefore I have chosen crime, drama, and gangster. I got this inspiration after watching a Film known as Vada Chennai (North of Madras) with a similar genre. I admired the tone they portrayed each character within North of Madras, they represented every event that usually occurs within that space, North of Madras is a space where most gangs live hence this film presented how a person transforms into a gangster. Vetrimaran a great Indian director executed a very well-off universe of a gangster form with every minute portion and made it as a full complexion of a cult crime, drama and gangster narrative line. Vada Chennai’s inspiration motivated me to get a point of curiosity towards making this genre, I primarily wanted to produce the film on Chennai basis because I live in Chennai. In which I have personally experienced people’s life in terms of culture, hence, I wanted a narrative line which should particularly grip Chennaites (Chennai people), therefore this genre could be a platform to reach them.

WHY A GANGSTER?

A film referring to a genre that focuses on gangs and organized crime. It is a subgenre of crime film, that may include large criminal organizations, or small gangs set to complete a particular illegal act. These sort of films particularly focuses on characterization they primarily provide powerful characters. as well as they likewise use high intense brutality, which occupies sort of audience who relishes every part of the film, especially upcoming filmmakers and critics.
These genres use a high sort of cinematography and extensive difficult shots during fights, particularly Vada Chennai adopted very aggressive violence and they captured most of the scenes in single takes.

The gangster sort of films are materialistic, street-smart, unethical, mega-maniacal, and self-destructive.

Rivalry among other criminals in gangster warfare is frequently a notable narrative for characters.
Gangster films are often righteousness tales in the hunt of wealth, status,
And material as well as ownership of (clothes, cars, and drugs) because all other “standard” streets to the top are unavailable to them.
Although they are doomed to defeat and imminent death (usually violent). Criminals are sometimes portrayed as the victims of circumstance because the narratives are described from their point of view.

How Gangster can be taken to divergent methods?

This project will introduce me to an entirely new world it will be a extensively new work-piece to work on since this is going to be a gangster as well as a non-linear narrative in which characters are the prime sources.

Why? a Non-linear? , Firstly I got introduced to a non linear segment after watching a movie known as Maanagaram (City) A Tamil Nonlinear Narrative line which holds three dominant characters in which each have their characteristics and roles, as well as the three, hold one thing in common that is the City Chennai, the city is focused on the basis of these three’s perspective and each take Chennai in different forms.
Throughout the diary of cinema, multiple directors have adopted non-linear storytelling within their films. The counterparts of Memento and Pulp Fiction have molded the fan’s desire to be summoned with fractured and disconnected narratives.
Non-linear narratives linger with you because they oblige careful reasoning regarding all the pieces presented. When we realize that puzzle, you sense a real discernment of fulfillment.

SCRIPT

Without the script, we don’t even get to produce our film. The script is core to the entire process This is the most imperative element before film making. This typically purports the solid story line, dialogues, and shots. Any film plan commences with the script. Trying to produce a film without a script would be similar to crossing the ocean without any sort of navigation. It is the plan that everyone operating on the film refers to when they are accomplishing their portion of the process. Usually, everyone operating on the film has a copy and they relate to it throughout the production of the project.

It describes the entire narrative, it also holds all actions within the film and every dialogue for each character. It can also specify characters visually therefore, filmmakers can try to seize their style, expression or vibe.
Producing a film necessitates meticulous planning of the budget and cost estimation this can also adequately be gleaned from the script.

,Moreover,Nowadays it is more convenient to make a script and improve them because we happen to type it.
This fundamentally decreases time-consuming and filmmakers can carry script to the shooting locality easily. , However, in past people used to write down the script, besides it was time-consuming and replacing it would be very challenging, though, presently adequate of improved technology within the film is much more intensified, to be more comfortable than the past,

I used the software known as a final draft this had various features to create a script. It granted me to modify elements accordingly to scenes like shots, action, characters, etc moreover it keeps the information of the character’s name and when we add new characters it automatically suggests characters. This was much adequate to produce a good script as it offered various presets, therefore, it made my script making easier.

I previously used the Microsoft word document script template to produce a script. however, it was not that accurate compared to the final draft because Microsoft word document had automated data. In which I had to substitute the scenes accordingly however final draft offered more extensive options compared to Microsoft word document, Therefore I chose Final draft alternate to Microsoft for script making.

Irandu Disaigal (Two paths) the script is much more diverse in terms of scenes and characterization. I have equipped the film with the high sum of dialogues compared to Night which merely consisted of one or two dialogues and this film I wanted to make a perfect non-linear gangster, therefore, adding extra and intense dialogues was the greatest possibilities for me to add against actions and scenes.

SHOT LIST

A shot List is one of the common essential assets you can take to a set to assure a uniform and effective production. The more extra preparation you embed in before you shoot, the more salutary your end product will become. The shot list is actually the outlines for the visual structure and photography of the film. It holds the “raw materials” that you require to compose the film photographically. An architect would never contemplate building a house without blueprints. A director or cinematographer should also never think of producing a film without their shot list.
When producing a shot list, the director of the film will sit down with the cinematographer and review their vision for the film.It serves as a comprehensive checklist that fits the video with a sensation of direction and presents the team with film expectations.
This development will serve filmmakers to hold a reference while executing their film, besides creating shot lists are more straightforward contrasted to the past because due to impeccable advancements of technology.
it is more apparent to produce shot lists because as asserted in the past we ought to draft shot lists by writing however now we can type which is pretty much simpler.

In my shortlist, I have implemented all the crucial aspects that are needed in the film like Shot number, Description, subject, Shot size, Camera angle, Camera movement, Equipment needed, Location, Shot time, No of takes, these certain aspects will aid me in composing the film because I will be extracting the shot list as the information like location and scene description.

Producing a video can be a complex project. You’ve acquired to come up with a storyline, handle lots of petite details, and determine how to edit the finalized product. Fortunately, there’s a low-tech tool that can do every viewpoint of video creation more simple: a storyboard. So, what is a storyboard?A storyboard is a visual depiction of your video. Designing a storyboard clarifies every stage of producing a video. You’ll be capable to propose more effectively, toss your approach to other people more prominently, and evade dilemmas during production.

WHY STORY BOARDING

We’ve all had experiences where we were trying to explain something and the other person simply can’t see your vision. When you own a storyboard, you can explicate people on how exactly your video is persisting to be drafted out and what it will look like. This makes it extremely more straightforward for other people to follow up with your idea.

How did Nagendran cause an influence?

Nagendran this name is very impactful. As this name is the one , that is heard as one of the deadliest gangsters, who has established an underworld mafia in Chennai (NORTH MADRAS) presently he is behind bars.

I got this name following several sorts of research on secondary resources. lastly, I searched ‘the top 10 gangsters in Chennai’ and in that I got a result such as dark truth’s on Chennai. I found Nagendran’s which was cited as one of the deadliest criminals who is still controlling people within the Puzhal jail.

I wanted a name for the character which had to be related to the community of Chennai. And effective ,therefore, this name seemed a bit “gangsterious”. Hence I thought of adopting this name for the character who is part of my film.
